1st Test Day 4 Live Streaming

jayawardene notched up the highest run-aggregate for Sri Lanka against India in Tests, overtaking Aravinda de Silva's run-aggregate of 1252 (ave.41.73) in 19 Tests.

Jayawardene's runs' tally of 1365 (ave.80.29) in 13 Tests is now the second best in India-Sri Lanka Tests, next only to Sachin Tendulkar's run-aggregate of 1412 (ave.54.20) in 20 Tests.

Apart from the feat, Jayawardene set a few important landmarks during the course of his Ahmedabad double hundred:

The visitors, who had resumed on 275 for three, ended the third day in dominant position at 591 for five, a lead of 165 over India's first innings total of 426.

Sri Lanka's innings revolved around Mahela Jayawardene's classy innings.

The 32-year-old, who relinquished the captaincy in March this year to concentrate on his batting, played with skill and panache although he was never really troubled by India's lacklustre bowlers.

India had begun with spin from both ends in the morning and, while Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra produced considerable turn, they lacked sting.
